Catnip essential oil is very expensive, but because of its efficacy, even a 1 percent concentration will repel mosquitoes.
For use in a spray bottle mix 1/4 to 1/2 tsp. of catnip essential oil to 1 cup of rubbing alcohol, and 1 cup of water. Shake well and then spray lightly on clothing, arms, and legs, being careful to avoid eyes or open cuts.
