Bay laurel essential oil is steam distilled from the leaves and branches. It has a strong herbaceous, spicy, and medicinal aroma and is one of the stronger essential oils. It is greenish yellow in color.
Bay essential oil is beneficial for muscle aches, earaches, respiratory system and infections. Bay oil contains pinene, geraniol, eugenol,
cineole and other compounds that are anti-inflammatory, anti-rheumatic and analgesic. It has the properties that make it a good addition to formula blends to aid breathing and to uplift the spirits. Since it is also antifungal and diuretic, it can also help skin and fluid retention. Add it to a massage oil for this, and use topically only.
It blends well with cypress, ginger, juniper, rosemary, orange, bergamot, and ylang-ylang. Use in massage oils or diffuse in the air with an antidepressant blend.
Side Effects: of Bay Laurel
Do not take internally. Avoid while pregnant. Dilute the oil well and use in small amounts as it can irritate the skin (and mucous membranes).

Bay laurel leaves are dried and used in cooking, mainly to flavor meats and stews. Bay leaves can be taken in tea, used in herbal baths, and infused in oil.
