What is Citronella Oil ?

Properties & Uses:

Citronella essential oil is steam distilled from the grass of the plant and has a rich, sweet, grassy, lemony aroma. There are two types of Citronella essential oils, this one being known as Java Citronella (Cymbopogon winterianus), and it has the most citronellol and geraniol which makes it preferred for aromatherapy and perfumery. The other Citronella is Citronella Grass essential oil known as Nardus Citronella.

Citronella is used for rheumatic and menstrual pain, and also digestive challenges. It is best known as a mosquito repellent, and has been very popular in sprays and candles for this purpose.

It blends well with the other citrus oils like bergamot, cedarwood, geranium, sandalwood, and pine.
